MacPractice Dental Conference

July 10, 2017

Practice Management computer software for a dental clinic plays an important role to the day-to-day management and practice flow. It allows us to maintain our appointment book, create treatment plans, collate patient records and process payments. In our Practice, we use the Practice Management software ‘MacPractice’

This software is American made and hosted, which means the support offices are also based in America. Each year MacPractice holds it’s annual conference, the MacPractice User Conference, to enable the users to keep up-to-date with the latest software updates and abilities. This year the user conference was held in Portland, Oregon, and I was lucky enough to be able to attend the 3-day conference.

Over the next 3 days, I will be attending seminars/lectures about all aspects of the program such the clinical charting ability and the account management section. One of the aspects we love about MacPractice is the ability to automate letters and reports. This process allows us to pre-make letters/reports that automatically generate the patient details and bulk of the letter/report. This allows us to cut our administration time per patient and also allows us to immediately hand over a detailed written treatment plans/letters at the end of our patient’s appointments. During the classes, I am able to ask questions and give feedback on the software and also suggest changes we would like to see made to help us in our day to day management.

I am looking forward to returning to the practice to share the information I have gathered with the team. With the extra knowledge I have gained, over the next few months, I will also be collating a user manual specific to our practice, which will allow myself and the other team members easier navigation through the software.
