A bridge is a series of crowns made together with a false tooth (a pontic) suspended between the abutment teeth (natural teeth on either side). They are an excellent fixed prosthesis option for replacing one or more missing teeth and can be completed in two appointments.
Dental Practice Accreditation
Dr Christopher Hart is pleased to announce that we have recently been awarded full accreditation against the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS). NSQHS are specific guidelines that are outlined on behalf of the Government by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
Keeping your implant clean: The ongoing battle against biofilm!
Once a successful implant has been placed and a crown or bridge inserted, keeping the implant clean is the next hurdle to maintain your implant long term. Without special attention, the periodontal structures around the implant, the bone and gum, can become infected by the bacteria in plaque (aka biofilm). This can result in “Peri-implantitis” and effectively destabilise the implant from the bone.
A dental veneer is a facing that is bonded directly onto a tooth and is typically fabricated out of dental porcelain. Dental porcelain is very similar to tooth enamel and reflects light differently, it can also be produced in much thiner sections while maintaining strength.
Temporary Bridges – Techniques for dental implants
Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth. One of the downsides to dental implant treatment is that it can take many months until patients can enjoy their final porcelain tooth. Most patients are trying to avoid wearing plates, and so one very good way to deal with a missing tooth is to place a temporary adhesive bridge.
